Welcome to Hamilton, heart of the Waikato for the New Zealand Hospital Pharmacists’ Association Conference, 3 - 5 September 2010.
 
We are proud to be able to present this year’s conference at the fabulous WEL Energy Trust Academy of Performing Arts right on the water’s edge on the campus grounds at the University of Waikato. We have arranged for accommodation in the heart of the city, a stone’s throw from the river and minutes from the night life and café’s of the CBD.
 
We have three exciting speakers who will present cutting edge topics to reflect our theme of “Forging New Pathways”.
 
Dr Ian Coombes, Team Leader Practitioner Development, Medicines Services, Queensland.
Ian will address competency based performance development for pharmacists: the national Australian Framework. Improving prescribing competency and safety in hospitals.
 
Jenny Blennerhassett, Community Liaison Pharmacist, Prince of Wales Hospital, Sydney.
Jenny will present Medicines management across the primary/secondary interface: the many roles of a liaison pharmacist.
 
Carmela Corallo, Formulary Manager, Alfred Health, Melbourne.
Carmela is speaking about the role of the clinical pharmacist in specialty areas: what do doctors want...., drug levels and implications, medication errors.
 
We are inviting pharmacy technicians to attend a day of concurrent sessions and to join in with the keynote addresses.
 
We look forward to a full and invigorating programme showcasing the latest developments in the ever changing world that is pharmacy, New Zealand.
